Stop that berry! Stop that berry! Did you know that many of the fruits we commonly call berries aren't in fact berries? It's true - blueberries strawberries cranberries even the raspberries in this blend are technically not considered berries. According to botanists a true berry is a simple fruit with seeds and pulp produced by a single ovary. (These other berries are sometimes referred to as false berries.) Currants the other berry component in this blend happily fall into the true berry category.
So just how important are berries true false or otherwise to the human diet? Well in terms of vitamins and antioxidants berries are one of nature's better sources of both. Beyond the health implications however some believe that berries and the numerous recipes they've inspired over the years actually shaped the way people eat. In his book Anatomy of Dessert noted Victorian food writer Edward Bunyard (1878-1939) wrote: It is said that to this fruit we owe the invention of forks and all that has meant to the art of the table. It's also thanks to berries that we are able to blend fantastic rooibos blends like this one.
A freshly brewed pot of Berry on the Run offers rich berry notes and mellow notes of smooth herbaceous Rooibos. Stop that berry!
